Who will treat me?

Charlotte Dawson graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2001 with an honours degree in Physiotherapy. Over the past five years, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings. Initially she worked in the NHS for the Calderdale and Huddersfield trust, specialising in musculoskeletal disorders (muscle and joint pain), before leaving to work full time in the private sector. In addition to this, Charlotte has also worked in a sports setting predominantly with rugby union players at both national league and county level. The majority of her time was spent working with Halifax Rugby Union Club. She has a special interest in biomechanics (how the body moves) and uses this to assess and correct faults and relieve pain.

Charlotte regularly undertakes post-graduate training to ensure her continued professional development. Some of these courses have included acupuncture, pilates, manual therapy techniques, sports massage, kinetic control and the mandatory training required by her governing body. In 2004 she successfully completed her first module set by Bradford University as part of their MSc Rehabilitation Studies and intends to continue on this path to achieve a masters. As well as being a member of both the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health Professions Council she is also a member of the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine.

Charlotte is a keen musician, and plays principal flute with the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Band.



Kathryn Clough grew up in Leeds and attended Green Lane primary school, followed by Garforth Community College. She continued her studies at Bradford University and graduated in 2003 with an honours degree in physiotherapy. For the past three and a half years Kathryn has worked in Halifax for the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. After spending the initial two years rotating through different clinical areas she now specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

Kathryn is a member of both the Chartered society of Physiotherapy and the Health Professional Council and attends regular training to improve her skills and keep up to date with the latest research. She is a qualified acupuncturist and also has a keen interest in manual therapy and pilates.

Kathryn's main interest outside of work is sport, in particular football, and she has held a season ticket at Bradford City for over 10 years. She also enjoys playing squash and running.

We are very excited to welcome Richard Walker to our team of physiotherapists. Richard completed an apprenticeship at Huddersfield Town football club before sustaining an injury which meant that he had to make a change of career, which he decided would be Physiotherapy.

Upon qualifying from the University of Salford, he started working at Sheffield Wednesday AFC across all teams (academy, reserves and 1st team). He gained valuable experience working alongside Kevin Pressman, Shefki Kuqi, Gerald Sibon to name a few ex-premiership football stars. Richard then worked for the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust where he has now been for over 5 years.

Richards hobbies centre around keeping fit - playing football, road running and swimming. Other interests include traveling, socializing with friends, music festivals and recently and rather strangely, garden landscaping!

All our physios regularly go on courses to learn new skills and up to date theory and Richard is no different. Both he and Kath are studying for an MSc at Bradford University.
